We don't build for hypothetical users or funding rounds. We build because someone we know actually needed the thing — and the existing options were embarrassing. Chalk started because Sammy's gymnastics coaches were tracking routines on paper in 2024.
Perfection is a moving target and a great excuse to never launch. We get it in front of real people, watch what breaks, and iterate without ego. Version 1 ships. Version 2 is better. That's the process.
No ads. No selling your usage patterns. No data brokering. If we build something worth paying for, we ask you to pay for it. That's the whole model — and it keeps our incentives clean.
Features that don't earn their place get cut. Interfaces that require a tutorial get redesigned. We'd rather do one thing right than ten things adequately. The best software feels inevitable — like it couldn't have been built any other way.
